Castle Pines to Host the PGA TOUR’s BMW Championship in August

World class golf and astonishing mountain views collide this summer as golf’s best come to Colorado

The Northrop Group

Mark your calendars for August 20-25, 2024, as Castle Pines Golf Club hosts the prestigious BMW Championship, the penultimate event of the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs.

This eagerly anticipated event brings the talents of the PGA TOUR’s top 50 players in the world as they compete to qualify for the TOUR Championship – where the top 30 will compete for the FedEx Cup, with the first place finisher winning $25 million. The BMW Championship is set to be an unforgettable experience, combining world-class golf as the golf and sports world places a focus on the breathtaking beauty of Castle Pines, Colorado.

The Tournament

Players compete in the season long FedEx Cup Points List to eventually qualify for the season-ending playoffs, a series of three events to determine the FedExCup Champion. The Top 70 Players qualify for the FedEx St. Jude Championship which will take place in Memphis, TN. From there, the Top 50 earn their ticket to Colorado and players expected to compete include World #1 Golfer Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, Max Homa, Viktor Hovland, and Valor Christian High School Grad (and 2023 U.S. Open Champion) Wyndham Clark. Tiger Woods is eligible to compete, but is not expected to have played enough tournaments in 2024 to earn the necessary qualifying points.

The tournament makes a long-anticipated return to the city for the PGA TOUR since The International, once an annual stop, last was held in 2006. The last PGA TOUR tournament played in Colorado was the 2014 BMW Championship, held a decade ago at Cherry Hills Country Club.

The excitement of having professional golf back to Colorado is immense and Castle Pines offers a picturesque setting worthy of such a notable event. The Western Golf Association (the official organizers of the event) is using more than 2000 volunteers from around the area to put on the tournament and tickets have been selling quickly.
