Why did you get into real estate?
I was a Senior in High School and needed a job. My parents had a family friend that was in real estate and he offered me to be his assistant while in school and then that summer I worked full-time for him. I learned a lot at a young age of how important it was to invest in real estate and saw people’s dreams coming true.

How much has real estate changed during your career?
When I started it was in 2002, I remember having to order paper contracts from the local association and they had multiple sheets. You’d have to fill in the blanks by hand in front of the client. I would then drive the contract over to the Buyer’s agent for them to review and sign. I’d then have to tear them each apart and give one copy to the Seller, Buyer, Lender and Title. I’d have to hand deliver each of these to each party of the deal. I also was in charge of photography and “Virtual walk-throughs.” We had a special camera that had a circular mirror that you’d attach at the top, put the camera on a tripod in the middle of the room or outside, set the timer and run and hide in hopes you didn’t get in the picture. The company would then “cut” the circular image and that became your virtual walk through. Needless to say, we’ve come a long way!

What is the biggest key to your success?
I would say the ability to recognize opportunities for our clients, knowing my strengths and weaknesses and enjoying the people you work with on a daily basis.

Most proud moment in your career?
After passing my real estate exam, seeing how proud my family was that I took the leap. They believed in me the entire time and I could just see it in their eyes. Also the very first contract I wrote that got accepted…I felt a part of something big and still have such a rewarding sense of accomplishment hundreds of deals later!

Do you have any funny or embarrassing moments from your career you can share?
I was showing a client some homes and had my hands full with the property printouts, talking about the neighborhood and my heel caught the edge of the flagstone sidewalk. I full on fell…volleyball diving style flat on my face. Papers and shoes went everywhere. I quickly got up and the client asked if I needed to take a moment to cry. I told him that I was good and let’s keep going. Now, been a client of ours for several more transactions after that!

How do you manage a work/life balance?
Balance is a hard way to explain the life of real estate. Sometimes you have to intentionally take time for yourself. It might even include writing contracts while you’re on the boat catching walleye at the same time.

What is one of your craziest client stories you can share?
We have had so many wonderful clients but of course there are always some weird experiences. I literally lost a client during showings. They told me they had to go to the bathroom. Since it was a new build in the middle of winter, they said they were going to go to the sales office. I had to lock up the home and told them I’d meet them there. I got there and the clients were nowhere to be found and never heard from them again. I guess they weren’t interested in that house!

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of work?
I’ve recently gotten into fishing with my boyfriend. He does some guiding trips and I’ve gotten to learn some interesting ways to fish for walleye. We enjoy going to the mountains with the boat during the summer and then ice fishing in the winter. I enjoy volunteering with the Listen Foundation for their camps twice a year for kids that have Cochlear implants and have made several lifelong friends.

Favorite local restaurant?
Adriana’s in Franktown and Sierra in Lone Tree

Favorite Colorado getaway?
Crested Butte in the fall

Best concert you’ve ever attended?
People probably wouldn’t know this, but I love Five Finger Death Punch in concert. But the best concert recently was seeing Whiskey Myers at Country Jam.

If you weren’t in real estate, what do you think you would you be doing?
I would probably be a beautician

Why did you join The Northrop Group?
Jessica was one of the agents I did Transaction Management for at a previous company. She one day pulled me aside and asked me to work with her exclusively. That was about eight years ago and I haven’t looked back. I saw how hard she worked and how she’d set a goal and she would accomplish them, work through concerns for clients and get it done. I wanted to be aligned with that mindset.

What are your favorite updates to see in a home?
I like updated kitchens, even though I don’t cook much. The kitchen is where families seem to come together.

What is your best quality you bring to add value for your clients?
I’m detail-oriented and like following deadlines. I enjoy the personal side of it and talking with clients about the deal and what to expect. I like being the one they can count on to answer any questions.
